During the dotcom bubble, a coder now known as Paul LeRoux was slowly turning into an international cartel leader responsible for murder, money laundering, drug trafficking, organized crime, and more.
Why did he turn into such a shiester? Because he moved the freeline baby. That’s right. He took his brainchild that he had worked on for years and gave it opensource to the internet. (Along with some dorky manifesto about why this program needed to be released for free.) Which was fine for a while. But then his competitors started to “steal” his code… turn it into products they could sell… and got so stinkin rich they were buying houses on the French Riveria. Which made our pal Paul Le Roux jealous, angry, and vengeful. Which led him to dip his toes into illegal activity. And ended with him assassinating at least seven people and is now serving 25 years in jail. The morale of this tale is obvious I hope. Charge for your hard work (and charge top dollar). Otherwise, you risk becoming bitter and angry. And that doesn’t help you, your customers, or anyone else for that matter. Of course, it helps to charge top dollar if your messaging is dialed in tight and you’re contacting your list every day. Both are things I can help you with. But I won’t be accepting new clients until October at the earliest. To be notified when that does happen, head here: https://www.copybymccune.com/waitlist Tyler McCune Comments are closed.
