One of the most common things I hear about emails is: “I don’t know what to write about”.
I think many who ask this question have difficulty coming up with topics because they don’t write enough emails. I.E. they haven’t practiced. Another aspect is many people don’t understand their market well enough, or they don’t have a full vision of what they deliver (which is why I do a deep dive into my client’s market and offers, so I can understand it an extremely intimate level, sometimes even better than they do). With all that said, it’s still extremely helpful to have some “triggers”. Some things you can write about that you don’t have to come up with from scratch. In fact, when I write for clients, I’ll come up with a rough outline of emails I’ll be writing both in topic and style (for my own list I’m a little more “free-flow” because, quite frankly, it’s more fun). One such email that’s great to use is the holiday email. I’m sure this isn’t news to you. Many e-commerce and retail stores use holidays as an excuse for sales. But you, my smart cookie, can go way beyond the quick buck and use it as an opportunity to bond with your list. Enter the “Presidential Email”... Here’s what I want you to do: Tomorrow, on President’s Day, send an email to your list that’s president-themed. For example, if you sell in the fitness niche, it can be “Workouts you can do anywhere (even in Airforce 1)”... If you teach mindfulness, it can be “3 relaxation exercises I wish the president knew”... If you’re a copywriter like me, it might be “The Declaration of Independence secret to writing great copy”... Anywho, I hope you implement this… and if you do, let me know how it goes. That being said, if you don’t want to learn the nitty gritty of how to write your own emails, or you want to make more sales than you currently are, or you simply don’t have time, then gimme a shout over here: www.copybymccune.com/book Tyler McCune Comments are closed.
