When I first became a freelance copywriter, all those moons ago, I was hyper focused on results. I thought results were all that mattered. I wanted to be like all dem other freelancers with fancy numbers in their testimonials and whatnot.
And that’s not to say that results don’t matter. They do. I love when clients tell me the great results we're getting together (like a recent client who told me her traffic was up something like 60-70% since I started mailing for her).
But what I found was a whole other aspect to this freelance game. And how it happened was I’d start getting feedback before the project even began.
Just from diagnosing my client’s problems and coming up with a solution, they’d be saying things like, “I’m so excited for this. I think it will be a hit.”
Which made me realize, it’s not always about the results you get… it’s about how you make your clients feel.
Obviously being effective at what you do will make your clients feel like they’re in good hands. And nothing makes them happier than results. So if you do client work, be effective and get results... but don't ignore all the other aspects of a positive client experience.
Anyway, here’s a happy Saturday testimonial from a client I’ve been working with:
"I really appreciate what you’ve done and are doing for Fitness Genome. Your work has been fantastic and extremely needed. Look forward to continuing to work together..." — Chris Craig, Founder & CEO, Fitness Genome
