Strange subject line? I know. But before you think I'm crazy, know that came more or less directly from the mouth of Ch'an mater Hsin Yun.
More or less because I took some poetic license in the paraphrase. Hsin Yun started Fo Guang Shan, the Taiwanese monastery where I first learned meditation. While giving a dharma talk to our group he told this story: "A master and his student were talking. The master said, 'I'm a farmer leading a stubborn donkey and I'm happy.' The student not wanting to be shown up by the master turns and says, 'I'm the stubborn donkey and I'm happy." This goes on until finally, the master strikes the fatal blow with, 'I'm the gnat in a piece of poop on the donkey's ass and I'm happy.'" The morale of the story? If you can be happy as a donkey dingleberry gnat, you can be happy anywhere. So be the donkey dingleberry gnat and prosper. Next, go here: www.copybymccune.com/waitlist Comments are closed.
